Feeling the Effects of Fall Allergies (and How to Get Relief Naturally)

    May 15, 2019

    Allergies - running nose

Many people think spring is the worst season for allergies. While warmer weather and blooming flowers can wreak havoc on your system, fall allergies can be equally problematic.

Allergies during fall have different culprits than the ones people typically experience in the spring and summer—but the symptoms are often the same. Things like runny noses, watery and/or itchy eyes, and the feeling of “pressure” in your head can make the cool and crisp season of fall seem impossible to get through.

However, the more you know about what causes autumn allergies, the sooner you can discover some fall allergy remedies that will help you to find relief!

    Causes of Fall Seasonal Allergies

The major players for spring allergies include things like tree pollen. In the fall, there is less tree pollen to worry about—but there are other culprits (including other types of pollen) that can cause people to suffer just as much. Some of the most notable causes of fall allergies include:

    • Ragweed
    • Sagebrush
    • Tumbleweed
    • Burning bush
    • Russian thistle
    • Mold
    • Dust mites

As you can see, the biggest offender is different types of weed pollen. Ragweed pollen is especially prominent in the fall and is often a problem for people who already have spring allergies.

Obviously, the severity of these causes will vary depending on where you live and the type of climate you’re in. Time of day can also play a part in how seasonal allergies affect you. For example, ragweed pollen is typically at its peak between about 10am-3pm. Cooler fall mornings can slow down how quickly the pollen is released. So, if you need to get things done outside, it’s best to do them early in the morning, or in the evening when it cools down again.

Things like breezy days can make ragweed allergies even worse. Because it can grow just about anywhere (especially in midwestern states), fall allergy sufferers can have a hard time finding relief during certain times of the day.

Mold is also a major offender when it comes to fall allergy causes. Depending on where you live, the weather in autumn can be dark and damp. This makes it easy for mold to grow, even inside your home.

    The Allergy-Gut Connection

Did you know that there’s a link between your gut health and seasonal allergies? Between 70-80% of your immune tissue is in your digestive tract.1 Your immune system plays a big part in how your body responses to different allergy triggers.

For example, someone with a healthy microbiome (and a healthy immune system) might be less likely to have allergies to things like ragweed or mold.

Taking care of your gut can help to give your immune system a boost. This will make it harder for seasonal allergies to take hold and cause such discomfort and misery, no matter what time of year it is. People with issues like poor digestive health or “leaky gut” will often have a harder time dealing with seasonal allergy symptoms.

    Natural Solutions for Allergy Symptoms

Over-the-counter allergy medications, and even prescription solutions, can come with a variety of negative side effects. Things like nasal sprays, antihistamines, and nasal decongestants work, but some people don’t like the way they feel after taking them. Common side effects include things like drowsiness or even a weakened immune system. Even if you don’t experience any of the side effects, some people simply don’t want to use synthetic medications to deal with their seasonal allergies.

So what are some of these natural solutions that can help you to find the relief you need?

    • Quercetin: This natural antihistamine inhibits your body’s immune cells from releasing histamine. As you might expect, histamine is largely responsible for most allergy symptoms. That’s why over-the-counter antihistamines are so popular. Why not choose a natural blocker, instead?
    • N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC): N-Acetyl Cysteine is a natural amino acid that alleviates congestion. It does this by breaking up the mucus in your body, allowing it to drain more easily so you don’t feel as “stuffy.”
    • Eucalyptus Leaf: This herbal solution helps to clear out your nasal cavity by decreasing the number of microbial organisms that can start to build up there. As a result, you’ll feel less congested.
    • Thyme: Thyme can help to boost your overall immune function and balance your body’s hormones. This helps to get rid of harmful pathogens that are often associated with irritating allergy symptoms.
    • Bromelain: One of the biggest problems allergy sufferers face is inflammation. Bromelain is a natural anti-inflammatory solution that will help to get rid of nasal congestion, so you can breathe easily.

    Aceva’s Allergy Support

The natural allergy solutions listed above are found in Aceva’s Aller-Aid and Sine-Aid products. By using these products, you can harness the power of these ingredients and find relief without having to worry about adverse side effects.

    Aller-Aid: Histamine Regulation

Aller-Aid is a comprehensive formulation designed to decrease the histamine response during acute allergy symptoms.

Sine-Aid: Mucolytic Support & Immune Enhancement

Sine-Aid can be used both proactively to help reduce the chances of developing allergy-related symptoms as well as to help provide relief from acute allergy symptoms by working as a potent mucolytic and anti-inflammatory.

*Aller-Aid and Sine-Aid can be used simultaneously when one is having acute allergy symptoms, because their mechanism of action is complementary and synergistic.

Ultrabiotic: Intestinal Dysbiosis, Immune & Digestive Support

Ultrabiotic can also be used to help improve intestinal dysbiosis that is likely contributing to allergy symptoms. It does so by helping restore the beneficial bacteria in the intestinal tract which are important for healthy immune function and digestion.

Please refer to the product sheets for these products in your Aceva reseller resources in your account and read this letter highlighting the recent enhancements to the Sine-Aid formulation.

Other Ways to Reduce the Risk of Developing Seasonal Allergy Symptoms

Taking extra precautions in your home and when you’re outside can make it easier to reduce your risk of experiencing seasonal allergy symptoms. While using some of the natural solutions listed in this article will be helpful, being proactive about your allergy symptoms will make it even easier to get through the season without experience much discomfort.

Some useful tips to keep your fall allergies in check include:

    • Keeping track of the pollen and mold counts each day (available on local weather stations and websites).
    • Wearing a filter mask when working outside.
    • Taking a shower and/or changing your clothes when you’ve been outside.
    • Keeping your windows closed on high pollen count days.
    • Keeping your home dusted and as clean as possible to prevent pollen, dust, and dander.

While people who have high sensitivities to allergies might still experience symptoms no matter what they do, keeping these solutions (and natural remedies) in mind will make this season easier than ever when it comes to managing those symptoms.

You don’t have to give in to OTC allergy medications or nasal decongestants that can cause side effects. Instead, take preventative measures and use natural ingredients like those found in Aceva products to combat your fall allergies successfully.
